The dramatic true story of Tiffany Rubin’s daring 2008 rescue of her seven-year-old son,
Kobe, after he was abducted by his biological father and taken from his home in Queens,
New York, all the way to Seoul, South Korea. At the time Salko had been fighting Tiffany
Rubin for custody. On a routine visit with the father, Kobe and Salko suddenly disappeared.
She feared that he had taken the child overseas. After doing some digging she was able to
confirm her fears that they had indeed gone to Korea. Tiffany never thought she would see
her son again. She took to bed for several days, lost weight, and became very depressed.
She had no money to hire a private investigator or contract the more famous underground
assistance programs that would help her to locate her son. She was finally approached by
Mark Miller, founder of American Association for Lost Children Inc. Miller told her he would
help her for free. Almost a year later Rubin received an anonymous tip through her MySpace
page that her son was in South Korea. The tipster gave her the exact location of the school and
told her how to enter the school without being detected. Rubin and Miller, along with the FBI,
arrived in South Korea within 15 hours. They met with the tipster, they cased out the school,
and then they made plans for Tiffany Rubin to enter. Once inside, Rubin went to her son's classroom,
got his attention, and he recognized her.She made an excuse to the teacher that she needed to talk with
her son about something very important, and it was then that she made her escape to the embassy.
Once she arrived at the airport, Korean immigration officials did not want to let Kobe out of the county.
American officials talked to them, paid a fine, and they were allowed to return to the US.
